Botox, cosmetic and therapeutic

The same treatment does two different jobs: softening lines in the face, and relaxing the jaw muscles behind TMJ pain.

Botox: cosmetic

Botox softens dynamic facial wrinkles: forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. It works by relaxing the facial muscles that create them. The effect is not permanent, so most patients repeat treatment a few times a year. Dr. Nastassija Voyich also offers Juvederm dermal filler.

Botox for TMJ pain

Pain in the temporomandibular joint, the hinge in front of each ear, very often comes from the muscles that work it. Clenching and grinding, often at night, keep those muscles tight, and the result shows up as an aching jaw, tension headaches, clicking and a bite that feels tired by the end of the day.

A small dose of Botox placed in the chewing muscles relaxes them so they cannot clench as hard. For many patients that eases jaw pain and headaches and takes the pressure off the teeth. We examine the joint, the bite and the muscles first to make sure Botox suits the cause of your pain. The injections take a few minutes, the effect builds over the following one to two weeks, and it wears off gradually over several months, when the treatment can be repeated.

Implants and regenerative surgery

Rebuilding bone, helping it heal with your own blood, and replacing the teeth it holds.

Bone grafting

Jaw bone health and deterioration

Losing a tooth causes the jaw bone beneath to atrophy and resorb over time. This results in a lessened quality and volume of bone. Consequences of bone degeneration include a decrease in implant placement feasibility, may allow the remaining teeth to shift, and changes the shape of the face.

About bone grafting

Bone grafting is a technique used to repair and regenerate bone in areas of damage or deficiency as well as aiding in healing.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) & platelet rich fibrin (PRF)

Platelet rich plasma and platelet rich fibrin are products made from your own blood. A small amount of blood is drawn and spun down for use in a centrifuge here in the office.

How it helps you heal

During the healing process, the body sends many cell types to the wound including platelets. Platelets and fibrin help form the blood clot and release growth factors which stimulate cells to regenerate new tissue. PRP and PRF are rich in platelets, fibrin, and growth factors.

Where we use it

  • Bone grafting in conjunction with dental implants

  • Repairing defects in bone

  • Regeneration of bone after tooth extraction

  • Repairing damaged sinus membranes

Advantages

  • Safety. 100% natural. Biocompatibility is ensured.

  • Convenience. It is prepared in the office while your procedure is under way.

  • Faster healing. Saturating the site with growth factors speeds up tissue regeneration.

  • Less pain. Use significantly reduces postoperative pain.

Dr. Nastassija Voyich also uses PRP in therapeutic and cosmetic facial treatments.

Dental implants

Dental implants are used for many different purposes. An implant can be used to replace a missing tooth or function to support or retain an appliance or prosthetic.

Replacing missing teeth

An implant replaces a missing tooth without cutting down the healthy teeth either side of it, restores the ability to chew and helps preserve the contours of the face.

Implant supported overdentures

A denture that clips onto implants stays in place while you eat and speak, unlike one that rests on the gums alone.

Overview of implant placement

A comprehensive clinical and radiographic evaluation is used to determine the ideal implant and implant placement location. The implant is then placed in the jaw. Depending upon a few factors, the implant may be loaded immediately or delayed. Once the implant is ready to support chewing forces, an abutment is then attached and the final crown, bridge or denture is fitted on top. In many cases a temporary tooth can be worn in the meantime.

Missing all upper or lower teeth

When an entire arch is missing, multiple implants can support a full set of replacement teeth, either fixed in place or as a removable overdenture.

Bone grafting for implants

Bone grafting can be used to improve bone density and volume; two important factors in implant success. In areas lacking adequate bone, bone grafting may be used to rebuild the future implant site.

After implant placement

Some swelling and tenderness are normal for the first few days. Soft food, gentle cleaning around the site and the aftercare instructions we give you help it heal, and we check the implant again before the final teeth are made.
